Inspirational Artifacts

Find comfort knowing you’re part of God’s Plan

Inspirational Artifacts are both inspirational and meaningful, both straightforward and approachable.

These sculptures were themselves inspired from an analogy in C. S. Lewis’s Mere Christianity.  In that analogy Lewis describes our view of life as if we are a point on a line seeing only the here and now whereas God sees the whole line representing our entire lives.  The implication is that God sees all the events and personal connections in our lives and can see the impacts that they have on us.  God knows how those events and connections fit within His plan for us and, indeed, within His plan for everyone and everything.

The purpose of each sculpture is to represent how God might “see” the twists and turns of our lives including events and personal connections that physically shape it.

For instance, in “Life With Children” depicted above, we see the twists and turns in life resulting from the addition of children. However, also note the gold color used to reflect the overwhelming joy and love that children bring to life!  The lines on the left represent the children as they head out from the family to prosper on their own.  (Important hint: “read” the sculpture from right to left).

In “The Soul Mate” we see the downward impact from the black line on the right representing a dark period caused by a tragic event or destructive personal connection.  The gold lines in the middle are events or connections that help the person recover leading to the final redemption with the soul mate on the left.

The sculptures are intended to be constant reminders that we can find comfort in our tumultuous lives knowing everything we experience is part of God’s Plan for us individually and that God is using us according to his master plan for everyone and everything as a whole.
